Academics

School Mission

Our mission is to challenge our students to grow as learners, leaders, and community members. We possess the enthusiasm, vibrancy, and attention needed to create knowledgeable leaders at FLA.

What courses are required

  • Earn 8 Credits of English Language Art 

  • Earn 8 Credits of Social Studies

  • Earn 6 credits of Math

  • Earn 6 credits of Science

  • Earn 2 credits for Local Regents Diploma or 6 for Advanced Regents Diploma  of World Language

  • Earn 2 credits of Visual Art

  • Earn 4 credits of Physical Education

  • Earn 1 credit of Health

  • Earn 7 credits for Local Regents Diploma or 3 for Advanced Regents Diploma  of World Language

A minimum of 44 course credits are required to graduate from FLA.

The completion and passing of NY State Regents exams are also required. At FLA, you must pass these regents to graduate:

  • ELA Regents  (11th grade)

  • Global History Regents (10th grade), US History Regents (11th grade)

  • Algebra Regents (8th or 9th Grade), Geometry Regents (9th or 10th grade), Trigonometry Regents (10th or 11th grade)

  • Living Environment Regents (8th or 9th Grade), Chemistry Regents (10th grade), Physics Regents (9th or 11th grade)

  • World Language (10th or 11th grade)
